I had a great time with Ben last night. Of course, Ben thought it was a great idea to take advantage of the fact that I was mobile in order to do some much needed grocery shopping. So we headed off to the Co-op to load up on some heavy household staples, like flour and sugar. I think Ben was pretty suprised at how much he actually spent on groceries, I recall him saying "I don't think I have ever spent this much on groceries in one trip."
By the time all the running around was done, we were famished and needed to get some food into our bodies, asap. We headed over to The Keg for some wine and steak - yummy! We were having such a good time that we continue with more wine back at his apartment - threw in some Family Guy and had some good laughs. I did contemplate going home after dinner, however I don't get to see Ben that often anymore, and being tired and hungover once in awhile isn't gonna kill me. We ended up passing out on the new furniture (which I still think doesn't resemble mine at all) til about 1:00 am, woke up, and then decided it was best that I head back to my hotel - after all I did have to work today. As I left Ben's apartment, I caught a regular sight in Calgary - 3 bunnies hopping across street. I swear the little dog that was out for a walk was ready to bolt from his master any second.
Work wasn't all that bad, except the exhaustion. Early to bed tonight for sure, and home to my comfy bed tomorrow. Yeah!

Games Night
It was a nice change to have friends over last night to play some games. Sky popped over early, we ordered pizza and started up a game of Sword & Skull - a new boardgame I bought from the Den. If you have ever played Talisman, it is similar to that only it has pirates - Ahoy Matey! Check out the online demo here.
Eventually, Laura, Brennan, John, Tomas, and Rilla game over and joined in the fun. They started up a game of Cannibal Pygmies in the Jungle of Doom. That is always a fun game to watch. If you had Skippy the Dog in your movie you rocked, though the camel with the revolver just didn't seem to make the cut.
I look forward to the next games night, as I am really impressed with my new Pirate game. Can't wait to play it again!

Good Family Visit
I came home to Biggar on Wednesday night for a visit with the family. I have only seen my family once since Christmas, and I was in desperate need of some family time.
It was nice to relax, eat some good home cooked meals - that I didn't have to prepare - and get some well needed time with Kevin, and Mackenzie (my neice and nephew). My cousin from Calgary also came down for a visit, so I got some good visiting in with him and his girls. Above all, I got some heavy duty knitting accomplished his weekend, to the point that I am sick and tired of knitting. Knitting for me is a nice way to relax, however this blanket has turned into a chore - mostly due to my procrastination of it - It's not like I didn't know when this baby was coming. Oh well, I am just about done, and will likely take some time off from knitting.
We're headed back to Saskatoon today and am looking forward to more rest and relaxation.

Futurama Fans
For those of you who enjoy a little (or a lot) of Futurama, check out this trivia. I found some of them pretty obscure.
taking the bus shouldn't be stressful or is it?
I took the bus this morning. I think that was my first mistake.
I usually try to get to work by 8am, however I had some difficulty rolling out of bed this morning - I think I finally got up just after 7am. Anywho, that meant I was going to miss the early bus, and would have to take the 7:55 bus. I caught the bus on time, however the transfer at Broadway and Taylor wasn't exactly to my liking. I got off the #6, not realizing the #4 wasn't there yet (which it usually is). I asked the bus driver where the #4 was and got this response - "I don't know. I guess it must be late or something." Then he drove off - what an asshole!
I have been taking the bus long enough to know that most bus drivers are courteous enough to radio the other drivers when there are problems. However, this guy didn't seem to be concerned that I (as well as a few others) would be standing in the cold for who knows how long.
Myself and the other bus patrons were able to determine that the #4 we were suppose to get on was not coming when we saw an empty bus and City truck drive by. We assumed that once they transferred those passengers onto the new bus they would come and get us, as we had been waiting about 20 minutes by that time. We were mistaken - the now full new #4 drove right past us.
I did eventually get on the next scheduled #4, toes and fingers ice cold, but finally on my way. I arrived in tact at work, 1 hour from my original departure time.
What a way to start off my last day of work for the week. I guess the time wasted wasn't that big of a deal, as I don't have that much work to do - it was just annoying.

Dinner & a Movie
Had a good time out with John tonight. It has been sometime since we really got a chance to hang out, it was fun.
He picked me up from the gym aroun 5:30, and we headed over to Chianti's for some supper. Umm Good! He has finished the first book we picked for the Book Club, so we had some good discussion on it, as well as discussed future book choices. Somehow we got into talking about movies, and emotional scenes. It is interested how some emotional scenes really pull you in, where others do not. We agree that when an emotional scene can make you feel as they do (sad, lonely), they have pulled you in - this is usually when people will cry while watching a movie.
After dinner we decided to check out the movie selection over at Centre. We decided to take in Cursed. It was your typical werewolf/horror movie.
All in all it was a great night out with a great friend. Thanks John!

bummed
I was really looking forward to hockey tonight, however it seems as though it wasn't happening. I went to the school where it usually is, and there was a kid's play happening. So either it was cancelled or they changed the location. What ever happened, I wasn't informed. Oh well! It is just that I ate this huge supper in anticipation of getting a good dose of cardio today. Now I feel very full and fat!
I think that I might be getting sick. My year reign from the dreaded cold may finally be over. My throat has been irritating me most of the day. I figure if I keep up with the vitamins, exercise, sleep, and drink lots of liquids I should be able to fend it off.
I will likely just make myself some tea, get some more knitting done and go to bed early.

needed a change
Had some help from Laura today on different things to do with my blog. So far I haven't added anything new, but I decided to change the layout.
There will likely be more changes to come once I get around to reading the book Laura gave me on html, and I don't feel as lazy as I do today.

Fun & Games
Ben finally made it into town yesterday, after missing his own party on Friday night at Brennan, Tomas, and John's house. His flight was actually cancelled, however Westjet could get him to Regina on Friday, so he flew to Regina and spent sometime with Mike, Jill, Tavish and Eamon.
Mike and Ben arrived on Saturday around 6:00pm, and from then on there was much eating, drinking(mostly Mike), and games. Suzi and Rilla joined us a little later and we had a few good games of D&D Clue, The Game of Life, and Cribbage.
The evening was pretty quite - Rilla went home early due to another nasty cold. The rest of us hopped into the hot tub for awhile, and then finished off the evening with a little Family Guy.

Lazy Day
So far I haven't done much of anything today. I did get some cleaning(the yucky bathroom) and tidying(mostly dusting) done this morning, and made some biscuits, however I am still in my raggedy clothes and haven't decided if I will change that.
Jeff was nice enough to install City of Heroes onto his computer so that I could play Neuba, since my newly purchased laptop is being serviced(damn computers). It is installed on my desktop, however it runs pretty crappy and has crashed on me a couple of times. So I had a good few hours of play this morning, and was able to team up with some pretty good players.
I had planned on travelling out to Biggar for my Grampa's birthday, however the news was saying that travel was not recommended, and that you should stay in doors - sounds good to me, not sure if I will leave the house today at all. :) Anyways, I don't feel too too guily about not going home, as I am going to spend a few days there next weekend over Easter. Should be a nice time to relax and visit the family.
I definitely need to get moving on my blanket that I am knitting for my brothers' new edition. Next month is 'the' month, and I would really like to have it done before he or she comes. Some knitting, and possibly a little Flintstones sounds like a good plan for the afternoon.

Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toliets
I was invited out to Lumsden on Wednesday night for Jill's wonderful potato soup, and biscuits. Yummy - another home cooked meal when away from home.
I got a chance to visit with Mike, Jill, Eamon, and Tavish - good times! The most enjoyable part of the evening was getting to read Tavish his bedtime story (he asked; so sweet of him). He chose Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toliets - which was hilarious. I wanted to keep reading, however we were only allowed to read 2 chapters (I snuck another one in, so 3 altogether). Maybe I will get to finish reading them to Tavish another time, I hope.
All in all it was a good time in Regina, although I am glad to be home, and look forward to being home for the next week. Ahhh my own bed, what a luxury.

Uncle Dave
This week I am Regina and have been looking forward to a good visit with my uncle for awhile now. I last saw him at Christmas, and it was very short and sweet.
When it comes to my job, I generally like going places where I have friends and relatives to visit. It makes the time away from home a lot easier to take. Coming to Regina is great for that because I have a lot of family here, and Mike and Jill (in Lumsden of course). There is something that is comforting and homey about spending time with family that is different from hanging out friends.
I think I get a little bit of special treatment when it comes to my uncle Dave, me being his favorite neice and all (only neice). He loves it when I come and visit, as he doesn't get to see me often, and I am the one that seems to visit the most. The home cooked meals are a great bonus. Since I have eaten out more than most people will in their entire life time over the past 3 years, I really enjoy a good meat and potatoes meal. Tonight will likely be much the same as last night - nice supper, and then relaxing on the couch watching tv. Ahhh, it shall be great.

A Night on the Town
Last night we went to the new nightclub in town - Beily's. My best friend, Jennifer was in town with her boyfriend for a few days over the weekend, and we decided to go out for some socializing.
We had a good time catching up with the whole family, as Jen's brother and sister also came. I don't get to see them as often as I would like and they live in the same city. That is pretty bad.
The nightclub is definitely trying to be a classier place, however I don't know if they are really succeeding. They have got the whole atmosphere down pat, with a more sophisticated ambiance and decor, however by the end of the night the music got louder, and the people got drunker and it was your typical bar.
It was good to get out, as I don't do it to often. But I know now why I don't. Loud music, expensive drinks, and screaming to talk to one another just isn't my cup of tea. My throat actually hurts today from talk so loud and hard
Today we are going over to Jen's parents for brunch, in fact she just called, so I need to be on my way.

The Forks
I decided to venture out to see the sights of Winnipeg after work today. I went to The Forks Market and had the best cinnamon bun in the world!!! It was so awesome - I actually felt guilty eating it.
I mostly looked around at all the little shops - bought some candy and real honey.
It is suppose to storm today, however I haven't seen much of it yet. I hope that it doesn't appear tomorrow and prevents me from coming home - little lonely this week and I am looking forward to returning home.

The Village
Had a chance to finally watch The Village on my laptop tonight. I didn't really know what to expect as I had gotten a lot of mixed reviews from people, and I didn't really know the storyline.
I would have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I did think that it was going to be more of a thriller than it was, but it was interesting to say the least.
I could definitely identify with the characters in the story who lied in order to perserve a more traditional lifestyle due to the chaos that society is generally in. I often feel the same way and contemplate about leaving it all behind to go and live in solitude. My place of solitude is the lake - we have power, but they is basically it - no tv, no phone, no running water, and we could definitely due without the microwave as we did for many years. Maybe one day.
Not a very exciting evening, but nice and quiet.

20 min Run
As most of you already know, I have been going to the gym for over a year now. My motivation has been to get and stay healthy, get in shape and feel good all around.
Today I ran on the treadmill for a full 20 minutes - no breaks to walk. Wahoo!! I have been attempting to run a little here and there on the treadmill since about Christmas. Ever since Jeff bought me an mp3 player for Christmas I have been listening to music while I exercise - and there is just some kinds of music that you just can't walk to.
The music motivated me to start running on the treadmill - and I hate running! I usually go on the treadmill for about 20-25 mins, and would run/walk various intervals. The most running I did up until today was a total of 14 mins - 2 - 7 min intervals with walking in between.
I am so very proud of myself, and I hope that I can keep this up. I actually don't mind the running as long as I have the right music.

"I have been to a lot of seminars before and that was exceptional...."
Just one of the many compliments I received from my class this week.
This week I was teaching 24 managers on how to be great effective managers. It is one of the harder seminars to teach, and can be intimidating when dealing with individuals who have been in management for years. If I can remember correctly, there was a total of 235 years of management experience in the classroom these past 2 days - WOW!
I felt that I did a good job, and delivered a pretty good seminar, considering the last time I taught it was Oct 2003. The participants had an awesome time, and I got a lot of nice comments on my presentation.
I also had the pleasure of visiting a couple of my friends, Andrea and Melanie. I just got back to the hotel after an evening of dinner and a movie. We went to see Hitch - the new romantic comedy with Will Smith. I generally go for more of the action/thriller/horror genre of movies, but the girls wanted to see this one. It was funny and cute. I would recommend it.
All in all, another good week.
This week I was teaching 24 managers on how to be great effective managers. It is one of the harder seminars to teach, and can be intimidating when dealing with individuals who have been in management for years. If I can remember correctly, there was a total of 235 years of management experience in the classroom these past 2 days - WOW!

things that make you go hmm...
If you love something, set it free;
If it returns, it's yours
If it doesn't, it never was.

Be the kind of person you would like to be with.

Every person, all the events of your life are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you.
Richard Bach
Happiness is not an accident
Nor is it something you wish for
Happiness is something you design.
Jim Rohn
In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life.
It goes on.
Robert Frost
Half of our mistakes in life arise from thinking when we ought to feel and feeling when we ought to think.

Give all to love; obey thy heart.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as the wind blows out the candle and fans the bonfire.
La Rochefoucald
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
Dr. Seuss
The most likely moment for something incredible to happen to me was the moment I was most certain nothing ever would.
Jane Pauley
We cannot truly face life until we face the fact that it will be taken away from us.
Billy Graham
Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get. It's what you are expected to give. Which is everything.

Remembering...
"When you say nothing at all" -by Alison Kraus.
I would like to share some of the lyrics with you.
It's amazing how you
Can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word
You can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face
Let's me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand
Says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best
When you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear
People talking out loud
But when you hold me near
You drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in you eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand
Says you'll catch me
If ever I fall
You say it best
When you say nothing at all
I can't not think of my loving Grampa Minto everytime I listen to this. I love you Grampa - you are always in my thoughts!
