So...
Jeff & I got some money for Christmas, and it was our plan to purchase something practical that we need - a vaccum. Last night we met at Midtown Plaza, headed to Sears and purchased our first vacuum cleaner, a Kenmore. It was a little more money than I wanted to spend, but it looked like a pretty good vacuum, and we need a good vacuum because of the cats. I am hoping that it will work out better than the 20+ year old hand-me-down Electrolux I have been using for the last 10 years.
We left the mall for Future Shop in search of a case fan for Jeff, and to return my defective mp3 player that Jeff had gotten me last Christmas. They didn't have the same model so I got a better one. It holds twice as many songs as the old one, yipee!
Other than playing too much CoH, and getting Neuba to lvl 46, I got to play with my toys. I got my mp3 loaded with a whole bunch of songs, and then listened to them while playing with my new vacuum. And the vacuum IS pretty awesome. Works great, and is much easier to use.
Tired now, perhaps I should eat more than 2 cups of coffee and 2 banana muffins. So hungry.

Back to the PAC
After too long of a break, and too much to eat I headed to the PAC. I motivated myself to get up when Jeff got up to go to work and caught I ride with him.
I had a pretty good work out, and I feel great. This usually happens after I have neglected my body. I even was able to motivate myself to walk home instead of taking the bus. I figured 'what the heck! I need the exercise, and it is a beautiful day.'
For anyone out there who may be walking anywhere in this nice weather, be careful! I am sure the people in the car driving down Cumberland had a good laugh when they saw me (though mostly my legs) fly 4ft into the air and land flat on my butt...I'd laugh!

Foggy Day
I am glad to be home safe and sound tonight. Today was our last day in Biggar, and it was foggy all day. When I noticed it in the morning I was hoping that it would lift, as I am not too fond of driving in fog. Alas it didn't.
After supper, and a delayed family gift opening, Jeff, my gramma, and I headed out. I could barely see in front of me....perhaps 50ft. I really shouldn't have been driving. However, the traffic was light, and we ended up following someone for most of the way to Saskatoon. Though he was driving about 85km/hr, I figured that this was better than in the ditch somewhere.
Christmas with my family was good, but short. My parents ended up giving us each a gift and some money. I really wish they hadn't..then again I know the money will come in handy for the remainder of the school year. The kids really like their gifts - a Dora game for Mackenzie, some technic lego (all the way from the lego store in San Francisco) for Kevin, and some winter shirts for Zachary.

Family Time
All of our visitors have left......little sad about that. I miss them already.
A&R were off yesterday afternoon to spend their last few days in Canada with their family. Soon after they left, we were off to do the same. We headed over to the in-laws to enjoy some quality family time. It was nice. A little less busy than the past week. Kevin is home from Cali for the holidays. It is nice to see him; he is the same as always - weird!
Christmas morning was a little surprising. Jeff & I were not really expecting much, as we held off on presents this year due to our financial situation. We ended up with a few things, and some money to help us purchase a vaccum cleaner.
We have managed to keep busy with playing games (even 'More Dirty Minds; not awkward at all, and I am being serious), visiting, and eating, however,I have been mostly knitting. I made an attempt to knit socks quite sometime ago, and called it quits when I couldn't quite figure out the rest of the pattern. However, I asked the Knitting Queen while they were here, and she set me straight. She has quite a knack for the art, and explains it so well. I managed to finish off the one sock in short time yesterday, and I am almost done the second one day. Kudos for me. Not so hard once I understand, imagine that.
There will be more family time spent with my family in the next couple of days. We are headed out to Biggar tomorrow morning, and unfortunately have to return Wednesday evening. However, I am still looking forward to the brief visit.
I also got some very exciting news this morning from a friend's mother, however I don't want to broadcast it across my journal until I have had a chance to speak with her. Eeeeeeekk!

Some Relaxation
Today is the first day since Saturday my house has been quiet. I opted out of brunch this morning with A & R and friends for some quiet time. I don't think they had even driven away before I was on the computer getting CoV up and running. I wasn't in a very creative mood, so I made the same character I had for the beta. Madame Lena is a Martial Arts/Ninjitsu Stalker. I got her up to lvl 4 before I decided to play CoH for the remainder of the afternoon.
I finally got the little bit of Christmas shopping I had to do earlier in the week, and got those gifts wrapped this afternoon. I hope my neice and nephews enjoy their gifts.
I think I am done with my quiet day. I like to relax, but I think I enjoy being around people a lot more. I guess that is the extrovert in me coming out. I am looking forward to another night with friends at Maguires.

Friends Big Day
So far the wedding of Mike & Jill has been awesome. The ceremony was beautiful, I even got a little teary-eyed. Jill looked absolutely beautiful in her purple dress and velvet cloak. Mike looked great too in his skirt, I mean kilt.
After 2 lunches at Grainfields and Calories, I am taking it easy watching Jeff & Bne play SuperSmash Bros., then it is off to the Faculty Club for the reception.
I like weddings, but they are so tiring.

The Family Guy episode last night paid homage to Sesame Street. It was awesome! I can't believe I had forgotten. I love Sesame Street; such good childhood memories. I was feeling kinda nostalgic and found this quiz. It is actually a pretty good quiz, and fairly accurate.
This test measured 3 variables.
First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.
Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.
Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.
You are very organized, both concrete and abstract, and more extroverted.
Here is why are you Big Bird.
You are both very organized. You almost always know where your belongings are and you prefer things neat. You may even enjoy cleaning and find it therapeutic. Big Bird is never sloppy and always under control... pretty good for a 6 year old bird living without a family.
You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Big Bird can be quite dreamy at times and has no problem using his imagination. At the same time he is also practical and can be methodical in his search for answers to questions. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course.
You are both extroverts. Big Bird gets along with everyone. He makes friends easily and always has a positive attitude. You definitely enjoy the company of others, and you don't have problems meeting new people... in fact you probably look forward to it. You are willing to take charge when necessary or work as part of a team.

THE IRONY OF LOVE
The greatest irony of love:
Loving the right person at the wrong time,
Having the wrong person when the time is right..
And finding out you love someone right after
That person walks out of your life...
And sometimes, you think you`re already over a person,
Until you see them smile at you again,
You`ll suddenly realize that you`re really not...
For some, they think that letting go is one way
Of expressing how much you love the person,
By sacrificing your happiness for theirs,
Without realizing that the other person`s
Doing the same thing for them...
Most relationships tend to fail
Not because of the absence of love;
Love is always present,
It`s just that one is being loved too much
And the other was being loved too little...
It`s all the thought you put into your decisions
That impairs your judgement
When your heart already knows what you need to do.
Listen to your heart.
Even though it`s on the left side, it`s always right.

Fun filled holidays
Our house has been a buzz since the arrival of Mike, Jill and family yesterday afternoon.
Jeff has been keeping busy with Tavish, playing video games, lego, and even shoveling snow from the sidewalks.
Eamon is busy getting into everything, but it has been a joy. He is such a cutie, especially those dimples of his. We hadn't seen him in so long, it was nice to see how he had changed.
Jill & I had a great visit in the hot tub last night. Jeff was out at Warhammer, and Mike was busy listening for the kids in case they woke. Considering Mike wasn't doing too much of anything, we were a little disappointed with the service we were receiving on the drink refills.
The kids are already in bed, and I anticipate a continuation of drinking for the adults. So good of Mike to buy wine, ..and rye, ..and rum.....
The weekend has been full of relaxing, eating, drinking, and socializing. Good Times!

New Look
I was so inspired by my friends new style, I decided to give my blog an updated look. I kinda feel like a little kid who is trying to copy what my friends are doing...hehe!
I am still playing around with the template. I think I might want to change the text colours a bit, and I need to figure out how to get my title back on the page.
Side Note: I am officially addicted to Firefox. Everyone was right, it is better than IE.

Lefse
So...
The lefse making has been going pretty well this morning. I was up bright and early, as I wanted to make sure that I was done and cleaned up before our guests (Mike, Jill & family) arrive this afternoon. I have been going strong now for about 3 hours by myself, and it is surprising me how fast it is actually going. Jeff is going to be SO disappointed when he comes home from work and it is all done.
I am pretty impressed with my first try on my own. I have made the stuff for years, but it has always been with mom & dad. Of course, it isn't as good as my Gramma makes it....then again I haven't been doing it for over 70 years. It has been a little sticky, but I have managed. And of course, it tastes fantastic!
Open invitation to all who wish to try it out. Just come on over!

All done!
Yipee! I am all done for the school year. I handed in my final exam yesterday. Feels pretty good. I am looking forward to a busy and relaxing holiday.
We finally got the Christmas tree up last night, and decorated the house. It looks nice.
I have been frantically cleaning my house for the coming holiday season. I have my classmates coming over tonight for a pre-Christmas party celebration. We booked The Keg for our MBASS Christmas party, and I thought it would be fun to have people over prior to us going for supper. And, of course needing a clean house for the California visiters.
The house looks very, very clean. I am not sure that it has been this clean all year.

feeling accomplished
Well, I think my final exam paper is looking pretty good. I worked real hard over the weekend, and got all my writing and appendices (including the financial stuff - blak) done. I am feeling pretty accomplished.
I have left today for proof reading, editing, formating, and printing.
I have already done a quick read through this morning and it looking pretty good...I am not sure what more I can do (or want to do for that matter). I have one more paragraph to add to the conclusion, and a couple sentences to add to the Executive Summary.
This is the last day, so I don't exactly want to start hacking the paper to bits. I am happy with the concepts and ideas that I have presented, so I am not exactly sure what I am going to do with myself for the rest of the day. Currently, I am waiting for CoH to connect, so it looks like I will be doing that for a bit.
I like being ahead of the game. Such a good feeling.

so tired
I should really just get to bed.
Since the class presentations on Wednesday I have had very long days, too much coffee, and a surprisingly large amount of computer games.
Given that I am working on my final case analysis exam, you would think I would abandon all thoughts of computer game playing - but NO! Ah well, I am feeling accomplished in my studies, so I don't feel guilty. Plus, one cannot simply work, work, work on school, I would go batty.
Side note: Jen is in town from Calgary, and is staying at her parents. We had a good visit, and I hope to see her tomorrow as well. The family is having a pre-Christmas celebration, as Jen is off to Maui with the boyfriend and his family. So jealous. Mostly because this is her 3 exotic Christmas trip with the family-in-laws.
Another side note: Sheer joy that our Cali friends will be staying with us for a couple days..huzzah!

The countdown is on
My last official class was last Thursday, however we had one final group case project to work on. The group of 5 girls that I was in was interesting. It was definitely a change for me, as I am use to working with, and spending most of my time with guys. We all got a long fine, however I am sure that it would have turned nasty given an extensive length of time.
Our presentations were today, and they went off without a hitch. Us girls felt pretty confident about how our presentation went, and we seemed to agree that it was probably the best (not meaning to gloat). It was the last time our class was together with the 4 profs we had for the term, and was the last day of free coffee and snacks. Wednesday was cinnamon bun day - yummy - I am gonna miss it. It is probably for the best. I certaintly haven't lost any weight this term. I gotta buckle down next term.
We received our final case study today, and it is due next Tuesday at 10am. 5 days, and I will be free from school. Well, at least for this year. Actually, it looks like I might end up doing some reading over the holidays for the spring Leadership class. I guess when the pressure is off, it doesn't seem like such a big deal to do stuff for school.
I am looking forward to my days off, though they are looking pretty busy. I have to get the Christmas tree up and do some decorating. There is much Christmas baking to be done, including lefse. I am pretty excited to attempt lefse making by myself this year. It is the one Norwegian traditional foods that I want continue making and eating in the years to come, so bought all the necessary cookware last winter. I was looking forward to combining efforts with mom (she has cookware too), but it looks like it might not work out. Ah well, I have already told Jeff that he needs to give me a hand - one to roll, and one to cook.
Finally, Mike & Jill's wedding is highly anticipated. Not only will the wedding be awesome, but I will get to see some very missed friends.
I have noticed this post is a bit of a hodgepodge, but I haven't posted much of anything lately due to school wrapping up.

Its been a while...
since I last had that much fun in a whole day.
A fellow classmate of mine did a wonderful job of hosting a Vanier Cup party. Kudos Erin! Our group made a unanimous decision that we would write off Saturday to work on the case, due to a variety of commitments.
After arriving around 2pm, I spent the next 10 hours socializing, drinking, eating, watching the game, and playing games (90's Trivial Pursuit, Taboo, and Russian Quarters).
My classmates are a hoot to be with, and I enjoy their company. I never took the opportunity in my undergrad to spend a lot of time with my classmates, and I sorta wished I had. I have taken full advantage of getting to know my classmates this time around, and it has been great. Then again, I am not sure I could avoid it. I spend probably 75% of my time with them. Good times!
Now back to the case work. Blak!

For the larpers out there.
Take note...
*It is generally understood that Scissors can beat Paper, and Rock can beat
Scissors, but there's no fucking way Paper can beat Rock. How could this
possibly happen? Is Paper supposed to magically "wrap around" Rock,
rendering it immobile? Why the hell can't Paper do this to Scissors? Screw
Scissors, why can't paper suffocate students as they attempt to take notes
in class? I'll tell you why: *
*BECAUSE PAPER CAN'T BEAT ANYBODY!*
*A rock would tear that shit up in 2 seconds. When I play
Rock/Paper/Scissors, I always choose Rock. Then when somebody claims to
have beaten me with their paper, I punch them in the face with my already
clenched fist and say, "Oh shit, I'm sorry. I thought that paper would
protect you"… *
*It is generally understood that Scissors can beat Paper, and Rock can beat
Scissors, but there's no fucking way Paper can beat Rock. How could this
possibly happen? Is Paper supposed to magically "wrap around" Rock,
rendering it immobile? Why the hell can't Paper do this to Scissors? Screw
Scissors, why can't paper suffocate students as they attempt to take notes
in class? I'll tell you why: *
