quick decision

So tomorrow I will drop off my application for the MBA Program at the UofS.

It has been a whirlwind last couple of days attempting to get all my ducks in a row before the deadline - June 30th. I didn't even think I was gonna make the deadline, but I did. I seriously contemplated the idea over the weekend, decided to read up on the program on Monday, emailed some professors for recommendations yesterday, got their responses today, talked to my boss and registered for the GMAT....Whewh....!!

I guess we will see what happens.

a tough start

So, I have had the book for over a week now. I picked it up from the library cuz every book place was out. I am kinda glad that I didn't buy. Not to say that the book is bad, cuz I don't know if it is bad. All I know is that I am having a very difficult time reading it.

The first time I started it I got all the way to page 33, but I didn't know what was going on, so I put it down. I contemplated picking it up because I do need to read it for the book club, however because I wasn't immediately drawn into the book I have avoided it.
[you see, I kinda am like that with most books I read. If it doesn't peak my interest almost immediately, I am bored with it. There has to be something about any book I am reading that makes me want to read more - to find out what is gonna happen next. I have a hard time reading things just for *analytical* purposes.]

Just the other night I thought I would give it another try. I made sure that I was REALLY READING it, not just skimming. I was focused (I think) and trying to pay attention to the setting and character introduction. I got to page 11 - then I put it down, again! I seemed to get a little more about what the book was talking about, however the disinterest was still there.

I hope that I can do it. I have to do it. Otherwise I will be disappointing the book club. I have adopted a lazy attitude about the book, and definitely need to make MORE of an effort.

A real good talk

Yesterday I spent most of the day with my best buddy. We went out intending to *people watch* in order to get some good observations for our drama class journal assignment, but I think we spent more time talking then watching. We hit the Timothy's coffee shop in Midtown Plaza, thinking the mall would be a great place to watch. There were some things that caught our eye - the number of little kid posses, a daughter with *way to much* makeup on and a couple of little old ladies sitting behind us. After coffee we continued the afternoon with a walk around the mall. I got the chance to visit with one of my Biggar buddies who was hanging out waitin' for his wife to get done shopping. I haven't seen Chad in 10 years and now I see him twice in the last 3 weeks - weird.

We left the mall and continued our observations, walking and talking down by the river. We went all the way to the Weir, as I hadn't seen what everyone was talking about - you can't see the Weir.

We headed back to his place and stopped at City Perk for another coffee. I think we sat there for 2 hours just talking. It was awesome. I haven't had that good of a talk with a friend in a really long time. It was nice to have someone be interested in the things you say, the ambitions you have, and the concerns you feel for others around you.

After a good long afternoon of visiting (mostly) we headed back to his place and watched some King of the Hill with his roommates.

That evening him and his girlfriend joined us for games. We played The Hills Rise Wild. It was a long game, but worth every second. I was controlling the Whaterly Clan, and they sure didn't want to die, especially The Hound. His barking kept him resilent against Cpt. Marsh. However he did fall near the end of the game. I wasn't really trying to get the Necronomican back to my summoning circle, I just wanted to squash Jeff's clan. The game finally ended with Brennan winning the game. Kudos to Brennan!

All in all a great day!

and then there were Pirates

Ulka, K and Josephine were exploring the surface. The council had directed them to find out more about what has been happening on the outside over the past number of years.

While travelling north east along the river, they spied a band of Pirates - though more like a large troop, about 50 of them. They edged close enough to check out what they were doing. Set up camp in the dense jungle, hiding as best they could, and looking for any clues as to what this group of Pirates was up to. After abou 3 days they concluded they were bringing in some sort of cargo. There were ships that were coming and going in a regular pattern. The final day of the stake out, the group notice dwarves departing from the ship, "slaves, they are bringing in slaves from Throll." Now only to figure out what the slaves were for.

The group devised a plan to wander by the river looking helpless and lost, in hopes that a ship would stop, take them captive (or something), so they could find out what was up. Ulka waited by the river, K blended in with his surroundings (thanks to Josephine) and Josephine hid up in the trees. As the boat passed by they saw Ulka, and offered her a ride, however only if the proper toll was paid - her backpack, her entire backpack - including Ulka's carving tools. She was prepared to hand over her backpack, however when the Pirates demanded her carving tools, she knew something was not right. By this time Josephine was already down from the trees accompanying Ulka across the plank onto the ship (she obviously wasn't hiding well, as the Pirates had spotted her relatively quickly). Ulka held onto her backpack and shouted for K. K revealed himself and made his way up the plank, onto the ship. The Pirates were gonna feel the wrath of K now.

The long battle began - 6 pirates against the 3 adventurers. K almost went down, Josephine was unharmed and Ulka managed to be resilent enough to take down a number of pirates. When all was said and done, the pirates were bound and the questioning begun.

"Where are you going, what are you doing with those slaves." One of the pirate responds, "we need them for helping us dig in the mine. The mayor is looking for treasure." The pirate suddenly began to itch and convulse. Shards began to protrude out of his skin. "He has been touched - marked by a horror. This mayor, he must be it. He must know somehow that we are speaking of him." With that, Ulka killed the pirate to end his suffering. However the torture continued after the slaying - his body rose and was ripped apart. Ulka then spoke to the next pirate,"you must tell us everything you know, and quickly. I will kill you as soon as I see the pain begin." The second pirate devulges that the mayor is in fact digging (looking) for a Kaer. He begins to show the same itchiness the first priate exhibited, and Ulka ends it before it can begin. The rest of the pirates are slaughtered. They have been marked and must be destroyed.

The group safely returns home to tell of their findings. They speak with the head Orc, and the council. It is decided that the mayor and his pirates must be stopped -but how, no one knows for sure. K is given a magical spear to aid in the battle against this horror and his minions. The group contemplates how and when this can be done, and done right!

Land of the Dead

The latest George A. Romero's zombie movie is coming out on Friday. If anyone is going to see it, or is interested in going to see it, let me know. I am there!

More Presentations

My drama class finished up their final presentations last night. They were quite elaborate and well thought out. I enjoyed them immensely. Two of my favourites were Brad's 'Beautiful' rendition - very gutsy and well done. Also Falukea (I think I totally botched that spelling) did a very interesting African song(which I don't know the name of) and portrayed herself getting ready for a big celebration. There was elaborate costumes, dancing, and her simply enjoying the experience. It was a joy to watch.

Only one more class to go and then the final. Boo hoo!

After class a few of us went to O'Shea's downtown for a drink. It was a good time to visit with everyone outside of class. I am really gonna miss not going twice a week. I guess that I will have to fill my time with something else. Perhaps CoH, but my regular playing partner is leaving for the summer so I don't know if I will be playing as regularily as I have been. Then again, I could take this opportunity to lvl up so that I am right on par with his character. Maybe I will do that, just maybe!!

What a Storm!

WOW! That is pretty much my reaction to last nights thunderstorm. It was a pretty spectacular light show from our bedroom. It kept me up til almost 2 am. And the thunder, there were a couple of times that I actually jumped in bed it was sooooo loud.

I wish I had some pictures to go with the post, but alas I don't. Perhaps once I purchase the much anticipated digital camera can I have cool pictures posted on a regular basis.

It seems to be back to nice, warm and humid weather today. Hope it keeps it up. Rain at night, hot during day - I like that!

A Performance...I guess

Last night our drama class started doing our final presentations - a lip sync. I was a little worried when we first got the assignment, but it seemed to come together nicely. Not long after we were given the assignment (about 2 weeks ago) *the* song just popped into my head, and I didn't really think about doing any other song. It was a song I already knew about - I had seen the video on CMT (yes, I know..COUNTRY) when I was in one of my many hotel rooms this past winter. So I didn't need to memorize the words, I already knew them. It was simply putting together some sort of story to go with the words. The words tell enough of a story that I just played off of that. And it just kinda came together.

The song was Lee Ann Womack's 'I May Hate Myself in the Morning'. If you are interested in checking out the song and the lyrics, go here.

I will give a quick run down of the story I portrayed. I begin in my bed thinking about last night and *him*. I look over at the picture on the bedside table, pick up the picture, and then throw it away. Trying to forget and discarding memories of *him*. I get out of bed and head to the kitchen where I poor myself a big glass of rum - looking to drown my sorrow and guilt away. I return to the bedroom where I pick up my journal to write about *last night*. I also stop to pause when I read something I wrote earlier - something happy. I continue to wrtie in my journal, sign off, throw my journal away, and finish off my rum.

The recap probably doesn't mean much to you. Then again it was a performance, I guess you would have had to seen it. But if you can visualize, that is what it was.

I was excited and nervous at the same time, but all in all I think I enjoyed doing it. It was very interesting to watch the others perform, and find out what songs they picked. Our little Italian girl - Angelina, picked a wonderful song and did an excellent job of playing a chef who is love with a girl - Angelina. It was the best performance of the night!

Now to just sit back and relax for the next 2 classes, and then our final exam is on Tuesday next week. I am kinda sad that it is ending. I have had a lot of fun, and met a lot of really good people. Boy, do I miss school! I am definitely gonna miss the yoga we do every class. I just might have to get myself enrolled in a yoga class for the rest of the summer.

Father's Day

We just finished a wonderful dinner over at the in-laws for Father's Day. I opted out of the bison burgers, and lamburgers and my mother-in-law was nice enough to cook me a regular hamburger - thanks!

We stopped off at Mcnalley Robinson before heading over to the in-laws to pick up the new book for the book club, Adiamante, and a gift for the dad - The Illustrated Canadian History. Aside from not finding the book club book, I managed to pick up a couple of books I am anxious to start reading: The Pirate Queen and Be Afraid Be Very Afraid THE BOOK OF SCARY URBAN LEGENDS.

My father is not around this weekend, he happens to be doing what he does every year at this time - FISHING. I know that it is exactly what he wants to be doing on Father's Day. So Happy Father's Day Dad! And make sure you catch lots of fish for me.

Aside from finishing the painting in the second bedroom (the green room), I had a fairly lazy weekend. Full of movie watching and friend visiting, and some CoH.

I am a little anxious about doing my final assignment in drama tomorrow night - a lip sync. I will definitely post to let you know how it went.

Zachary

So I finally have some pictures of Zachary. These were just taken on Sunday. He is 8 weeks. Check out my photo album for the rest.

Office Humour

This is a good one!

Journal Entry #6

Walking home from work yesterday I noticed couple teenage boys walking down the street. I paid particular attention to the one boy as he had the reddish orangiest hair I had ever see and it was super curly. The curl was obviously brushed out so it was very frizzy and looked a lot like a huge afro.

I thought to myself 'cool hair'. I then thought, I bet you there are other people who think that he is silly, or looks stupid or should get a hair cut. I then thought 'good for him to go out in public just as you are, comfortable in your own skin and the hell with everyone else and what they think'. This is an attitude I have had for as long as I can remember.

Such awesome hair. I am envious!

Journal Entry #5

I was walking to the mall and I noticed two gentlemen begin entering a building. The one man open the door for the other man, however the second man did not want to go through. The played a silent game of "you go, no you go, no you go." It was intriguing to watch. It made me think of our status discussions in class. The man who was opening the door was a business man - dressed professionally. The second man was in casual everyday attire. I observed the businessman in a higher status role; looking to take control of the situation. The other man looked as though he did not want to be in the low status role and that is why the silent game emerged.

With these required journals and the drama class I have definitely notice how more aware of things, people, actions, and routines I am. Cool!

The Reunion

So, it was my 10 year high school reunion this past weekend. I went home to Biggar on Friday night, met up with a couple of my girlfriends, and was off to the first function - and re-aquantaince at the local bar (what else). There were fewer people there than I expected, but that was ok. Most of the people that were not there had a *stick up their butt* about coming, so it was probably better they didn't show. I kinda thought that it was pretty silly to have such an attitude 10 years later - get over it - but that is some people for you. The evening was filled with socializing, drinking, and of course relocating to a locals for a house party. A lot of people didn't even recognize me or had to do a double take. I think that was a good thing, as most people said I looked awesome. That made me feel good.

It is interesting to watch and see how everyones' life takes different turns. Other than myself and a few of my girlfriends everyone has a brood of about 2 or 3, and a few were pregnant. So as you might imagine I got many lessons in birthing, breast feeding, child rearing, you name it. It was definitely a good source of birth control. That should last me.....well, for the rest of my life I think.

The Saturday functions revolved around golf mid-morning, an afternoon school tour, and a BBQ down in the valley. I even managed to squeeze some play time in there with my nephew.

The golfing was horrendous. I had only previously golfed once, and that was in high school. Melanie, Susan and I did a Texas Scramble and did alright. I really don't think that I will golf again if I can help it. It really isn't for me. However, it was fun with the girls cuz we weren't serious about it and it was all in fun.

The school tour was really good. It kinda made me feel a little jipped about my education now with all the sweet stuff the new school has. Our school was torn down a few years after I graduated. It must say, it was kinda a dump. And I believe it was kinda condemned while we were in school. But it was still our school, and I kind miss seeing it there.

The BBQ was a quiet affair, other than the 15 kids running around all over the place. I think people were pretty exhausted from the evening before and were takin' it a little easier on Sat. night. It was interesting to see all the kids and just how much they all looked like their parents. I went to school with most of these people from K-12 so I remember what they looked like long ago, and it is kinda creepy to see their children be the spitting image of them. The evening ended relatively early around 10.

As for Sunday I need to get in some quality time with the neice and nephews. I went over early to my brothers - around 10:30. Kevin was anxious to play Gem Quest again. We did attempt to play on Sat., but we were short on time. We got the game for Kevin on his birthday (April 7th), and he hadn't even opened it yet. He was waiting to be able to play it with me. So we got playing it again on Sunday with my brother. It is a pretty awesome game; pretty complicated in the beginning, but Kevin caught on right away. We can't wait to play it again.

I also got to see my new little nephew. Well, new as in 6 weeks, and little as in he is technically still a newborn, however he already weighs 13 lbs I think. Mackenzie, my neice was the little sweet devil she always is. We played a game of squirt the spray bottle into one anothers mouth. She is such a doll.

I headed back home mid-afternoon, dropped my gramma off at home and finished off my weekend with some relaxing CoH. All in all, a busy fun weekend.

It Could've Been the Death of Us

Josephine, K, and Ulka decided to open to door leading out of the Kaer. To their surprise it was lush, and green - like an amazing jungle. They even heard the noises of animals. This was nothing like what they had been hearing for years from the Elder & the Council. They exited the tunnels.

The group was cautious...but couldn't help but stare and absorb everything they were seeing. There was a path winding into the valley....they started their trek along the path. Josephine decided to fly up above the canopy to keep a watchful eye....being in unknown territory can be a dangerous thing. Suddenly, she hears the grinding of rocks, and before she can make sense of the noise she notices a winged creature swoop towards Ulka & K on the path. The gargoyle heads straight for Ulka, knocking her to the ground and she rolls down the path. Josephines darts don't effect it much and it goes for K next. K is now down as well. Josephine hides in the trees and watches the creature fly off. She waits, and waits and waits til she thinks it is safe. She flys down to Ulka, retrieves one of the healing potions from Ulka's backpack and administers it to her. She rises, and they go and heal K. Josephine advises the other 2 that we should be safe - "the gargoyle flew off, however we still need to be cautious."

The group returns to the Kaer for the rest of the day and the evening to rest. Once morning hits, they are back along the path.

They get farther than their first attempt, but it isn't long before they encounter others in the jungle. There are couple humans and a tskrang. They are sitting by the fire talking of evil acts. What should the group do? "To get to the river we have to pass them. There really isn't any other way." They move towards the camp, they notice them, and the battle begins. The humans are taken down and knocked unconscious. The tskrang is slain, to the shock of the group. "we didn't mean to kill her." "it was something we had to do, in order to save the lives of the good people out there," says Ulka. "The humans must die as well. They will kill again." Ulka kills the humans. A broach is discovered in the lapel of the tskrang. K smashes it. The the bodies shrivel up. The had been touched!

The group manages to make it to the river. K tastes the water - he feels better, healthy. They retrieve more of the water with the special crystal bowl..."this is what we came for. It is time to return to the Kaer."

Upon the return, Ulka demands to know about the adventuring group that was found in the final passage of the tunnels. "They were a group that came to the council in secret. They wanted to help prepare the tunnels for the day when those would need to leave the Kaer," the Elder said. The elder is told they are dead..killed by a Horror. "then they are heroes", said the Elder.

The story of the journey is told to the Elder & the Council...how they decide to share the information to the rest of the Kaer is up to them.

I've Been Tagged

So I have been introduced to a new phenomena (at least new to me) called tagging. I am required to answer a number of questions that have been given to me by the tagee.

I suppose the purpose is to reveal more about ones self. At least that is what it seems like to me.

So here are the questions that have been provided to me by my tagee - Rilla.

1. Number of Books I Own
2. Last Book(s) I Bought
3. Last Nook(s) I Read
4. 5 Books That Mean A lot To Me
5. Tag 5 Others

#1:
So as far as the number of books I own, the rough count is around 100. I, like Rilla, went through a book fetish as a child, however it was Sweet Valley High. They currently reside in Biggar, or perhaps we gave them away. I can't recall. I think I owned Book 8 through to 63 or something. That is a helluva lota books to have only read once. Meh. Another good portion of books counting towards my total would have to be the trashy V.C. Andrews Collections. They do reside in my house, and I actually read through the Flowers in the Attic series just last summer. Sometimes a good mindless read is exactly what I am looking for.

#2:
I purchased Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing for myself for the book club. For Jeff's birthday I purchased Uncle John's Bathroom Read Plunges into History AGAIN, PATRICK Son of Ireland, and The Last King.

#3:
The last book I read was for work - Humor Works, John Morreall, Ph.D.

We have a library of resource materials available to all employees. Part of my job is to review books, video, audio that would be advantageous for employees in their work and personal lives. It is a very interesting read - FCL definitely needs to lighten up. Everyone is way to serious around here.

#4:

Roots

This book helped me understand the history of slavery from the perspective of slaves. I have read it numerous times and it always reminds me how we (as a society) treat people who are different. It is so easy to fall into stereotyping others. This book acts as a good slap in the face for me.

The Thorn Birds

This book reminds me that you can't always control who you fall in love with.

Tao of Pooh

This book helped me become more self-aware in the actions I take, and the decisions I make. I definitely know that I need to loosen up.

Abnormal Psychology 2nd Edition

This has been the only text book for university that I have read completely front to back on more than one occasion. It helped me understand and appreciate individuals striken with mental illnesses. It also opened my eyes to what extent people can take *abnormal* behaviour. You can just about classify anything as a mental illness. As far as I am concerned I don't think there is such a thing as being *normal*.

The Complete Canadian Small Business Guide 2nd Edition

My fifth book was a hard one to choose. I think that is because I don't have 5 books that mean a lot to me, or I just can't remember all the books I have read and the impact they have had on me. As far as this book is concerned, it represents future, success, ambition, drive, career, determination, dedication, goals...Having this book around keeps me focused on the my goal of owning my own business one day.

#5:
As for tagging 5 others I have no one. It seems as though everyone else has taken all the people that I would have tagged - Rilla, Prairie Boy, Cenobyte, Laura, Super Suz. It seems my blog world is a little small.

Three Little Pigs

Golden Books version of Walt Disney's Three Little Pigs

"Once upon a time there were three little pigs who went out into the big world to build their homes and seek their fortunes. The first little pig did not like to work at all. He quickly built himself a house of straw. Then off he danced down the road, to see how his brothers were getting along." As he dances he plays a flute and his hat is bobbing off his head.

The second little pig is also a lazy musician. "He did not like to work any better than his brother, so he had decided to build a quick and easy house of sticks...It was not a very strong little house, but at least the work was done." Now these two danced down the road, to the tune of their fiddle and flute, to see how their brother was doing.

"The third little pig was a sober little pig. He was building a house, too, but he was building his of bricks. He did not mind hard work, and he wanted a stout little, strong little house, for he knew that in the woods nearby there lives a big bad wolf who liked nothing better than to catch little pigs and eat them up!"

In the Disney cartoon, this pigs name is "Practical and his joyless "nose to the grindstone" attitude ends up saving his lazy brothers' lives. The contrast between his hard-working humorlessness and their lazy laughter is made a gain and again.

"Ha ha ha!" laughed the first little pig, when he saw his brother hard at work. 'Ho ho ho!' laughed the second little pig. 'Come down and play with us! he called. But the busy little pig did not even pause. Slap, slosh, slap! went bricks on mortar as he called down to them:

"I build my house of stones.
I build my house of bricks.
I have no chance
To sing and dance,
For work and play don't mix."

Again the two lazy pigs laugh at their sensible brother. "You can laugh and dance and sing," he calls after them, "but I'll be sage and you'll be sorry when the wolf comes to the door."

And just to make sure that even the youngest child understands how foolish the first two pigs are, the book as them laugh at their brother yet again and disappear into the woods singing "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" immediately after which the wolf pops out of the woods to attack them.

The message here is obvious: we can have a good time, can laugh and dance and sing, but if we do, we are lazy jerks who can't provide for even our basic needs like shelter and safety. To be good people, we need to be like Practical Pig - humorless, joyless workaholics.
Humour Works, John morreall, Ph.D.

It is interesting to read something you have heard a thousand times and see something totally different. I don't think I will ever look at this fairy tale the same again.

Journal Entry #4

Yesterday I noticed something pecuilar. When I was done working out at the gym, I was in the dressing room getting changed. For some reason I paid extra close attention to how I took off my shoes, and the sounds my socks made as I shook them out. I then watched myself fold my shorts, tank tops, and bra. I then put everything into my backpack in what is obviously a standard way.

It made me think of our first assignment - the 2 minute display of a portion of personal life. It is a weird feeling when you start become more aware of the things around you and the things you do.

It's All True

I went to see a play with my drama class last night at the Refinery Arts & Spirit Centre.

The play - It's All True - was set in 1937. Art and politics collide when the government padlocks the doors of the theatre on the opening of Marc Blitzstein’s, “The Cradle Will Rock”. The director, Orson Welles, marches the actors and most of the audience down Seventh Avenue and finds another theatre, and in one brilliant stroke makes theatre history. As much a play for our times as it is about an historical event.

The Refinery has a very limited viewing area, and the performance was done in the centre, so the sitting was in a U-shape around the *stage* area. Due to the small size of the room it was pretty intense. There were only 7 main actors, some of them playing more than one role. I have never been to a play with so few performers before, and such a different setup.

The play was 2 1/2 hours - longer than expected, but entertaining none the less. It was nice to go and do something different for a change.

On another note, Jeff is off to Calgary for a few days to stay with Ben. Looks like he is going to be able to squeeze in a visit & a football game with Lance too.

Anniversary Celebrations, Part Two

For supper we went to Calories on Broadway. We had never been and had always heard good things from our friends about the restuarant.

We started off with a Quesadilla appetizer - it was excellent. Jeff had the veal and I had stuffed chicken breast for the main course. We finished off with Oreo Cheesecake for dessert.

All in all, the day was a nice way to celebrate our anniversary.

We finished off the evening with games over at the Pink House on Princess. We started off with a rousing game of Apples to Apples, and then split off into Lord of the Rings Board Game and Swords & Skull.

Early this morning Jeff headed off to Calgary with Ben for a few days. He will be back on Thursday.

Anniversary Celebrations, Part One

Our anniversary isn't actually today, it was on the 1st, but today was the only free day we both had to try and fit in some sort of celebration.

I have known for awhile now that there were surprises in store for me today. I awoke early to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and Jeff letting me know that we needed to be somewhere by 10:00. I had myself a couple cups of coffee, glanced at the newspaper, visited with Jeff, cleaned up and we were out the door.

The surprises in store for me were a massage, pedicure and manicure. The morning started off with a awesome massage (I have never had one). It was great! Jeff returned and we had a quick bit to eat at the Fox & Hounds before returning for the second half of my pamper day. Once we returned I received a pedicure and manicure - which I also have never had. It was nice. Not sure if I will ever do it again (me associating those kinds of things with being a girly girl, and me not really being that type), but it was definitely a nice treat as a gift. Thanks Jeff!

I received some nice flowers from Jeff and my silver locket that Jeff gave me for our wedding. It never actually had any pictures in the locket - but now it does. Another nice surprise.

For this afternoon some relaxation and then off to supper. Supper is my surprise. Not much of a surprise - just a place we have never been and Jeff doesn't know where we are going.

Oh, the Horror

I finally got the opportunity to see The Amityville Horror last night. Rob & I went to the midnight showing over at Rainbow Cinemas - yeah for cheap theatres.

All in all, a good movie. Quite different than the original, however there was much more violence and gore in this version. I am not sure if I liked the added effects. There is something to be said about horror movies that were made in the 70's that played off mood to instill fear into the audience. In the original movie you never actually see the ghosts, it is all about sounds and unusual occurences.

Rob was nice enough(imagine that) to only attempt to scare me once during the movie. He *claims* he was simply trying to get my attention, however I don't buy it.

A well spent evening!

There was also a rousing game of Lord of the Rings Board Game which we won with the help of Brennan & Laura.

The Journey

A disease has ridden the Kaer over the last few months. No one has passed on yet, however the Elder is worried that the disease will spread and be the death of the Kaer. The Elder speaks with the council and proposes sending a group of champions out of the Kaer to retrieve some healing for the sick children. Ulka, Josephine & K volunteer for the journey, and the council passes the proposal by a narrow vote.

Josephine, Ulka, and K begin their journey down the Halls of Traps. Josephine, sharp-eyed, catches the first spear trap, and the group moves around it. As the group moves on, Ulka notices tracks in the sand - going the same direction as ourselves -OUT!...however they seem old, about 50 years. The second hall of traps presents a magical trap - Josephine is able to dismantle it carefully and successfully. More tracks are seen. The group is becoming more and more puzzled. As they enter the final area - the door to the daylight - they are shocked to find 4 slain adventures and a Horror. The adventurers have the same items that we ourselves are carrying to help us on our journey. However, they are old and smashed and of no use to the group. As Josephine approaches the adventurer by the door to the daylight it reaches for her. She flies back and up as fast as she can. The others then become animated - they are now Zombies.

The Zombies have been slain - Ulka, Josephine and K are left to make sense of it all.....

I've Learned

I've learned-
that you cannot make someone love you.
All you can do is be someone who can be loved.
The rest is up to them.
I've learned-
that no matter how much I care,
some people just don't care back.
I've learned-
that it takes years to build up trust,
and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned-
that it's not what you have in your life
but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned-
that you can get by on charm for about
fifteen minutes.
After that, you'd better know something.
I've learned-
that you shouldn't compare
yourself to the best others can do.
I've learned-
that you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.
I've learned-
that it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.
I've learned-
that you should always leave loved ones
with loving words. It may be the last
time you see them.
I've learned-
that you can keep going long after you can't.
I've learned-
that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.
I've learned-
that either you control your attitude
or it controls you.
I've learned-
that regardless of how hot and steamy
a relationship is at first, the passion fades
and there had better be something else to take
its place.
I've learned-
that heroes are the people
who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done,
regardless of the consequences.
I've learned-
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I've learned-
that my best friend and I can do anything
or nothing and have the best time.
I've learned-
that sometimes the people you expect
to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.
I've learned-
that sometimes when I'm angry
I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned-
that just because someone doesn't love
you the way you want them to doesn't
mean they don't love you with all they have.
I've learned-
that maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you've had
and what you've learned from them
and less to do with how many
birthdays you've celebrated.
I've learned-
that you should never tell a child
their dreams are unlikely or outlandish.
Few things are more humiliating, and what
a tragedy it would be if they believed it.
I've learned-
that no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned-
that no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I've learned-
that our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.
I've learned-
that even when you think you have no more
to give, when a friend cries out to you,
you will find the strength to help.

Cat Haiku

I found this as I was checking out blogs on the internet. Oh how I can relate. To make sure credit is given, check him out. June 1st was also another good post - of course he was missing the anniversary of Marcia & Jeff. Also check out his post on 13 Rules for Choosing a Superhero Name. This guy seems pretty interesting. I just might have to start reading his blog regularily.

You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
That will sure show you.

I need a new toy.
Tail of black dog keeps good time.
Pounce! Good dog! Good dog!

The rule for today:
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.

In deep sleep hear sound;
Cat vomit hairball somewhere.
Will find in morning.

Grace personified,
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds--
Your foot just squashed one.

You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore my
sitting on your hands.

Kitty like plastic.
Confuses for litter box.
Don't leave tarp around.

Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitoes
Fear vacuum cleaner

Wanna go outside.
Oh, no! Help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!

Cats meow out of angst
"Thumbs! If only we had thumbs!
We could break so much!"

Litter box not here.
You must have moved it again.
I'll poop in the sink.
