New Skills

We had our slo-pitch wrap-up party last night....and I left acquiring 2 new skills.

1. Apparently I am not that bad at the drums for Rock Band. This comes a surprise to me, cuz I not a big fan of games like this or Guitar Hero. I have never found GH enjoyable to watch and I am horrible at it. RB was a little more entertaining, especially with an entire room of your friends, who've been drinking. Everyone was having a great time, and I did too, once I finally got into it. And, I am a horrible singer, but I already knew that.

2. I now know how to play Table Tennis. Our wonderful hosts had a ping-pong and so some of us engaged in a little friendly competition. Two of us got shown some of the basic skills by another fellow teammate, and then he proceeded to whoop both our butts.

Good times were had by all. Too much food and drink. I am glad I know my limit...and 3 isn't a whole lot. I guess that is what happens when you drink a couple of times a year. Ah well, I'll be giving it up soon anyways.

Heading to the Tropics

Some of you may have noticed the countdown and subsequent couples resorts on my sidebar over the last month.

Well....we leave for Negril, Jamaica in 32 days - October 18th. We're extremely excited. This is our first tropical vacation ever. Although James has been to Jamaica before (3x when he was a kid), it's never been as a relaxing vacation. and me....WOW!!! I can't wait. I am really looking forward to just relaxing and basking in the sun. Something I never thought I would do - be it that I wasn't much of a 'hot weather' kind of person. That seems to be changing with age, as I get less tolerant of the cold.

It's an all inclusive resort....so all the food and drink we can consume in a week. Plus, there are various watersports that we can indulge in that are included as well. I'm especially looking forward to trying hobie cat sailing and windsurfing.

Finally, we can't forget the 'big day' - October 22,2008. It's definitely going to be the highlight of the trip. Just the two of us!! :)

Superpowers and College...everyday stuff

After almost 2 years absence from tabletop gaming - I'm back! James is running a Mutants & Masterminds campaign for me and another couple (old gamer friends of James'). We're all pretty excited. We had our first session was last Thursday.

Our group consists of Em U. Laite (my superhero) - a reclusive skater-girl who has only recently discovered her ability to mimic others; Thomas Grey - a great mystic, who spews fire bolts from his hands; and D.A.N.A, the super-strong prodigy android.

Our session was short, but I can already tell it is going to be a fantastic game. James is very animated with his descriptions, and his use of a wide range of voices definitely adds to the game.

We hope to get together every couple of weeks.

Spa Day

I spent Saturday with the girls - Farm Girl, Baby Mama, and Cable Chick - enjoying a day of pampering.

We started off with a stroll through the farmers market in St. Albert, before we headed over to The Rock Salon for our noon arrival. We spent the entire afternoon at the spa getting pedicures, facials, massages, and haircuts. It was definitely a nice treat for ourselves.

For the next couple of hours, we shopped West Edmonton Mall. We didn't have a whole lot to shop for, but we ended up leaving with a few shopping bags in tow. I managed to pick up a few things for our upcoming tropical vacation.

We capped off the evening with drinks and dinner at Rics Grill. The food was delicious, as usual, and the girls and I had a great visit. Alas, the final member of a group, my BFF, is 'stuck' (resides) in Dallas, and couldn't make it for the weekend.

It was a nice escape from the day to day home organizing that has been occupying us for the past couple of months. Ahhhh!
