My Week at a Glance

My week was fairly slow, yet relaxing. After my busy Thanksgiving weekend, I think I needed a little 'me' time.

I managed to get caught up with my shows - Heroes & Bionic Woman. I find it odd to talk about 'my shows' since I haven't really watched any amount of cable in probably the last 6 or 7 years. But Mr. J & I enjoy watching them together.

I missed volleyball on Monday because of the holiday, and our Thursday league game was canceled, however I did get back to my bowling last night and did O.K. My week at the gym was much needed considering the amount of food I ate on the weekend. I tend to eat out more than I would like to when I'm back in Toon town. Then again, it is probably the only 'restaurant eating' I do. I never go out here at home. I guess that is good for the wallet.

Today I've got a fairly busy planned. Eventually I'm going to head out to get my oil changed. I will also probably wander over to Michael's. I am starting to think about Christmas gifts, and there is a bunch of Halloween stuff on sale that I noticed in the flyer this morning. I am going to decorate my house for Halloween today, and then Andrea is coming over later for supper. We are going to make ourselves some homemade pizza and then catch a movie - Michael Clayton. We both thought it looked good when we saw the previews awhile back, and reviews look good too.

And that's my day.

Movies & Shows

In between:
  • visiting with BB & Nicole
  • the wedding
  • visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Drang, and
  • Thanksgiving supper with the family
Mr. J & I managed to squeeze in 3 movies and a number of Arrested Development episodes and the first episode of Bionic Woman.

First, SUPERBAD. Go see it. It's hilarious. Well, at least for the first hour or so. The humour tapered off near the middle, and didn't really come back. At least not at the level it was in the beginning. But it definitely made me & Mr. J laugh out loud.

Secondly, Stardust. A romantic, fairy tale love story. I think I had way too many descriptors in that last sentence, but I don't care. It was a wonderful movie. I was full of 'aahhhhs' and smiles as soon as it ended. Mr. J liked it, but my brother thought it was full of 'cheese.' It was great. I've become a mushy romantic, and I love it.

Thirdly, Fracture. This court drama with Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling was interesting. Anthony's character plays games with the justice system, and ends up getting away with murdering his wife. Although it was based on US law, it was interesting to be able to point out all the inconsistencies and half-truths regarding the law and investigation, being that I just finished with my jury duty.

As for Arrested Development, it's still good. Even though this is my 3rd time through the first disc. But this time I got to watch it with my sweetie, who appears to find it just as entertaining as I.

Bionic Woman looks good, so I think I will start watching it. I think I have another episode to catch up on before tomorrow night.

Must....Watch...More...

Arrested Development.

I was introduced to this sitcom this weekend. Jen & Chad were sure I would like the humour - I did. It gets a SMAC for being one of the funniest sitcoms I've seen in awhile. I don't watch a lot of tv, and I watch even less sitcoms on a regular series. I much prefer being introduced to series later on, so I can watch the whole thing in sequence; so here's another.

We managed to watch the first disc of the 1st season. Brilliant absolutely brilliant. It turned out that Malcolm also was a watcher, so when me & the guys were over there Saturday night, we introduced it to Ben & Chris. They liked it as well, and Chris picked up the series on Sunday. I think I'll wait before I buy, but it is definitely a series worth owning.

My weekend was awesome. More updates to following in the week. I am just to hungry to continue this post. Hee-hee.

Sick in bed

The cold has gotten the better of me, and I called in sick this morning. It has engulfed my chest more and now my head. It really wouldn't have been a overly productive day at work, and I think I needed a day to relax, rest and recouperate.

Although I spent the entire day in bed, in wasn't a total waste. I watched Heroes all day. After watching the final episode with Mr. J, Al & Jenn on the long weekend, I decided I should watch the entire season and get caught up so I am ready to go in September when season 2 starts up.

I must say...I really, really enjoyed it. I watched the first 10 episodes today, and much like Battlestar Galactica I really liked watching them in succession, rather than sufferring through the once-a-week style of watching episodes. I look forward to the remaining season 1 episodes (which I hope Mr. J is bringing with him in 2 days - Squeeee!) and for the coming new season.

It's back to work tomorrow, as I can't afford another day away from work, and I really don't want to be sick anymore. I am finally get this mop that is on my head cut tomorrow, and then I must tidy up the house for Mr. J's visit.
