Last night I made a second character in the City of Heroes games. Her name is Volta, and she is a mutant blaster. Her powers originate from her mother, who was struck by lightning right before giving birth. She now resides in Paragon City fighting crime with her partner The Energy Ripper.
This was my first opportunity to play with someone else on a team, and it was a lot of fun. I found I didn't suck as much - then again I really have only played a tiny bit. Rob was nice enough to start a character with me that we could play and advance together, and show me the ropes of the game. We decided we would both play blasters, he is energy, and I am lightning. I am finding there is quite a bit to learn about the game - mostly in character development.
We managed to get to lvl 6 by the end of the night - 12:45am to be exact. I never could understand how Jeff could sit at his computer for hours and play - well I definitely understand now. I think Rob & I played for almost 5 hrs - I can't believe that. Well, I guess when you are having fun, time flies.
By lvl 6 I had many opportunities to add more powers, and start rounding out my character. I did die once, around lvl 5, so I had a 49 xp debt - and it was a death a could have prevented. I think I was getting a little cocky, and confident in my ability, oh and of course not really paying much attention to the strength of the baddies we were fighting - I guess I should have stayed away from that purple guy. :(
All in all, I had a terrific time playing CoH on a team. Thanks Rob!! I am definitely hooked now - those long nights in hotel rooms don't looks so grim anymore.
I look forward to playing both my characters more, and will likely make others as I get more familiar with the game.
