I suppose the purpose is to reveal more about ones self. At least that is what it seems like to me.
So here are the questions that have been provided to me by my tagee - Rilla.
1. Number of Books I Own
2. Last Book(s) I Bought
3. Last Nook(s) I Read
4. 5 Books That Mean A lot To Me
5. Tag 5 Others

So as far as the number of books I own, the rough count is around 100. I, like Rilla, went through a book fetish as a child, however it was Sweet Valley High. They currently reside in Biggar, or perhaps we gave them away. I can't recall. I think I owned Book 8 through to 63 or something. That is a helluva lota books to have only read once. Meh. Another good portion of books counting towards my total would have to be the trashy V.C. Andrews Collections. They do reside in my house, and I actually read through the Flowers in the Attic series just last summer. Sometimes a good mindless read is exactly what I am looking for.

I purchased Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing for myself for the book club. For Jeff's birthday I purchased Uncle John's Bathroom Read Plunges into History AGAIN, PATRICK Son of Ireland, and The Last King.

The last book I read was for work - Humor Works, John Morreall, Ph.D.

We have a library of resource materials available to all employees. Part of my job is to review books, video, audio that would be advantageous for employees in their work and personal lives. It is a very interesting read - FCL definitely needs to lighten up. Everyone is way to serious around here.

Roots

This book helped me understand the history of slavery from the perspective of slaves. I have read it numerous times and it always reminds me how we (as a society) treat people who are different. It is so easy to fall into stereotyping others. This book acts as a good slap in the face for me.
The Thorn Birds

This book reminds me that you can't always control who you fall in love with.
Tao of Pooh

This book helped me become more self-aware in the actions I take, and the decisions I make. I definitely know that I need to loosen up.
Abnormal Psychology 2nd Edition

This has been the only text book for university that I have read completely front to back on more than one occasion. It helped me understand and appreciate individuals striken with mental illnesses. It also opened my eyes to what extent people can take *abnormal* behaviour. You can just about classify anything as a mental illness. As far as I am concerned I don't think there is such a thing as being *normal*.
The Complete Canadian Small Business Guide 2nd Edition

My fifth book was a hard one to choose. I think that is because I don't have 5 books that mean a lot to me, or I just can't remember all the books I have read and the impact they have had on me. As far as this book is concerned, it represents future, success, ambition, drive, career, determination, dedication, goals...Having this book around keeps me focused on the my goal of owning my own business one day.

As for tagging 5 others I have no one. It seems as though everyone else has taken all the people that I would have tagged - Rilla, Prairie Boy, Cenobyte, Laura, Super Suz. It seems my blog world is a little small.

I read sooo many Sweet Valley High books when I was growing up too. Those were the ones I took out from the library because my mom was a little disapproving of them. Most of the books seemed to revolve around crushes, dating, popularity and clothes. I totally ate them up, but had a hard time convincing mom that they were good reading material ;)
I don't think my mom really knew exactly what I was always reading. She sure wouldn't have let me read VC Andrews at age 14, I know that.
I read SVH too, voraciously. I even had SVH sunglasses (yeah, I was cool). I always identified with Elizabeth, the "good" twin, just like I always identified with Betty instead of Veronica. I was such a sucky kid...
Elizabeth was definitely the better choice. But there was always something inside me wishing I could be risky like Jessica.
I always thought Veronica was just a bitch!
