Knitting Post

A couple of nights ago I finished off the second sock to the pair I have been working on over the last week. It hasn't actually taken me that long to knit two socks, I just have been busy with a number of other things that I haven't been able to dedicate as much time as she did on her Team Canada project.
Not that this project would have qualified me to participate in The Knitting Olympics, I am pretty proud of my socks. It is the only the second pair that I have done, and it went much smoother than the first pair. Amy helped me out at Christmas time when I was knitting my first pair, as I was having a little trouble. I couldn't figure out how to do the heel, and apparently I had begun knitting the sock inside out. However, it was comforting to know that I wasn't the only one that had made this mistake. Secondly, it is my first project where I have used 2 colours.

I think I will work on a third pair for Jeff, as it is a fairly easy knitting project to keep busy with, and I have a bunch of old yarn to use up.

For you knitters: One sock is unlike the other, can you see the difference?

Looks like you did the gusset decreases backwards on the bottom sock? But heck, that part will be inside your shoes anyway. :)

Nice work!

Yup, you got it right. I figured either you or Jill would notice right away.

You're AWESOME!

I thought I was the only person IN THE UNIVERSE who knit their first pair of socks inside out. I remember the look on Amy's face, and the stuttered, "well, it *seems* to be working for you...but what are you going to do when it comes time for the gusset?"

"What's a gusset?" I asked.

"Ah." She said, "there will be problems".

*I* thought you knit the top sock tighter, but then I looked at the close-up.

When I knit socks and mitts, I make a point of making sure there is a subtle difference (one is two rows shorter in the ribbing; one has one cable twisted backward) or an overt difference (different colours or different coloured heels or thumbs) because it behooves me to have matching things.

Ya done good, missy.

Recently, I completed a pair of socks. I began the pair for myself a year or two ago, got 'caught up' making other stuff, and ended up taking my sock in my purse to a convention. I made the whole thing in an evening. I love socks and mittens for that reason - they fit in your purse.

Unless you're making stockings, which is my next big project.

Um, is this some new meaning of the word "behooves" that I wasn't told about? :)
