Oh, how I love surprises

I really do love surprises...fun, sweet, romantic, silly...you name it, they are all good. A haven't gotten that many over the years, but lately I have been flooded with them, and they make me very happy and smiley. Apparently, I can expect them for the rest of my life. Squeeee!

My parents had planned to come to visit this weekend, however at the last minute my mom got fairly ill and they had to cancel. I was pretty bummed out for most of Friday; not knowing what I was going to do with my entire weekend. I was hoping to see Al & Jenn more, who were up visiting Jenn's friend & fiance. We had only planned one evening together because of my parents, but now with them not coming....I had the entire weekend to enjoy their company.

I had take the liberty of pre-bowling for my Friday night league in anticipation of my parents, however in their absence I now had an opportunity to go. I headed across the street after work with a couple of friends for wings and beer, and then went to bowling. It was funny, because I wasn't really feeling up to socializing, and once I got there I had just wished I had gone home.
Aside: Yes, sometimes moping is exactly what I need. It usually doesn't last very long, but I was feeling bummed and not very sociable.
Alas, I hung in there and began to enjoy myself, which helped to improve my mood.

Mid-game, my cell phone rang. Now, if you spent a lot of time with me, you would know that my phone rarely rings, and if it does, it is my friend Andrea or my parents when I am travelling home. I answered it, and it was my sweetie. :) He advised me that Darren & Al had arranged things so that he didn't have to work this weekend. I immediately jumped to the conclusion that he was in town and sitting at my house. I finished up my first game of bowling, and tore out of the alley. I think I got home in record time.

My sweetie had been planning the surprise for a couple of weeks, and had been laying all the necessary fibs leading up to this weekend to ensure I didn't think anything was up. It worked.

I was so excited to see him, I couldn't contain myself. I didn't want to let him go. It think this last stretch was the longest we've gone so far without seeing one another - 6 weeks.

Our weekend was wonderfully lazing. We spent most of the weekend relaxing with movies, tv shows, puzzles, cooking, and lots of snuggly time.

I took him to my volleyball game on Monday night, and he got to meet all my friends from work. They were quite excited to meet him, and were happy to know he was 'real.'

With Al & Jenn in town, our Monday supper plans were still a go, but all the more enjoyable with Mr. J. We decided on Julio's Barrio on Whyte Ave. The food was pretty good, but the service was horrendous. You could tell the waitress didn't give a damn about our table. It was sad. However, the night was enjoyable, as I was in good company.

Tuesday was Mr. J's last day, alas, I had to get back to work. However I decided on an extended lunch hour with Mr. J, Al & Jenn. I hurried home from work to greet our wonderful friends. Mr. J & I were great hosts and prepared lunch for the 4 of us, and had a great visit. Mr. J had another surprise in the works - the latest episode of Heroes that we had all missed the night before because of our supper out. We set up the lappy near the table and watched it over lunch.

It was great seeing Al & Jenn. It is funny how I sorta forget how much I miss my friends until I see them. Kinda like I am feeling right now with Suz & Cheruby visiting. It has been wonderful to have them here....I think I almost started to cry last night when Suz and I hugged. It is nice to be reminded how much I really do cherish my friends.
