Joy of Work

There are those moments of sheer happiness, contentment, and satisfaction with one's work. This weekend was definitely one of those times.

I had the opportunity (and I say opportunity because I actually wouldn't have spent my weekend any other way) to deliver a seminar to directors of the co-op yesterday and today. Every year, FCL has their Annual General Meeting where directors from various co-ops across Western Canada attend to learn about how well FCL is doing. I guess the directors have a right to know if we are making money or not!

We put on a variety of seminars that the delegates can attend, and my group this year was fantastic. I facilitated "Working Effectively with Others". We have based this seminar soley around the "Insight Inventory" - which is a self-assessment/personality test of sorts.

I had such a good response from the group. It felt really good to be able to provide them with my knowledge, and experience. They also taught me some things about individuals and how to best work with different personalities.

I find that experiences like this one is what makes work worthwhile. When I can brighten someones day, pass along my knowledge, ideas, experiences, or opinions, or just be a good listener to others - that is when I know that what I am doing is making a difference is someone's life.

It feels good to be appreciated, and thanked for all the hardwork that you put in. I got a number of good comments on my ability as a leader/teacher, and received a round of applause at the end of the day.

What a day - I am on such a high!
