The Jacket Potato

The jacket potato is a staple meal in England for either lunch or dinner.

The most common toppings are brown beans (much like the ones you would find in a can. In fact, I think they are from a can. However I can't confirm that they are Heinz Beans), and grated cheese. The other common topping is tuna and mayonnaise.

I have yet to try one of these out. I probably should before I leave. I guess I don't have much time.

Am I missing some special detail? It sounds like a baked/stuffed potato with wonky fillings to me.

Nope...you aren't missing anything Drang. A simple baked potato with wonky fillings. That is pretty much it.

However, they are found everywhere. In pretty much every restaurant. And once again, served at every meal expect breakfast.

Oh baked potatoes or jacket potatoes are delicious. We english have lots of toppings - you should try these Neuba when you get back home :)
1. grilled bacon and melted cheese
2. grilled salmon and salad
3. cottage cheese and pineapple
4. grilled chicken or chicken tikka
5. Cauliflower cheese (my favorite)
Make sure you mash some butter or marg up in the potatoe before scooping on the topping - makes it really yummy... :)
and I can confirm I have had leftover baked potatoes for breakfast! (is that gross?)
