I've been selected

I think it will be an interesting few weeks. I can't believe out of 230 people, I got picked. I am never that lucky, never!

I thought you weren't *supposed* to want to do jury duty. Two folks who've been selected whom I know did bloody anything they could to get out of it. A good friend of mine was horrified when she had to do jury duty, because she had to serve on the jury for some insane amount of time (eight weeks, I think, or fourteen), for which she was paid little more than minimum wage, *and* she had to take time away from her regular job, which caused a lot of problems.

But, that was ten years ago, and things could well have changed, and if you're excited about it, then I'm excited about it, because that's kind of cool, and you can do things like wearing moose antler hats in the courtroom just to see if anyone asks you to remove them to preserve a sense of decorum which the lawyers always disrupt when they say things like "objection, your honour! Heresay!".

I would wear moose antler hats to jury duty.

I did want to do jury duty. The timing, circumstances at work, and my interest in the process made it a great opportunity. I feel very privileged as a Canadian citizen to be serving as a juror, and be involved in something like this.

Yet another experience in my life that will shape me as a individual , and hopefully one I can reflect back on with great appreciation.

I am not only getting the opportunity to assist and participate in the criminal justice system, but I have also made some very interesting people, who by the end of this, I should know fairly well.

No hats are allowed or chewing gum.
